In addition to my 365 project, I’ve started one more personal project this year: 1 second a day. I’ve seen other people post these videos and I’ve been absolutely enchanted by them. If this is something you are interested in, it doesn’t have to be complicated! You can record video with your phone, and there is an app that will combine all the clips for you.
I’ve decided to go the more complicated route, as I want to continue to practice making videos with my DSLR and using professional software to assemble them. This month has been a huge learning experience and I’m very excited to see what I learn in February!
The premise behind this project is simple: record 1 second of video, every single day. At the end of the month, put your clips together in a 30 second(-ish, 31 this month) video set to music.
I love that video shows the personalities of my children in a much different light than photographs. With a photograph, a chaotic moment can look still and silent if you catch the right moment. With video, I can really see my crazy life for what it is- beautiful, chaotic, and delightful. Plus- there is something downright magical about watching a smile blossom across my child’s face.
Okay, that’s enough of an intro. Check out my month of January, 2018!
