Late summer and early fall is a perfect time for portraits. It’s no longer sweltering out. Jeans are so photogenic! And the leaves take on a beautiful glow, even before they slide into the vibrant oranges.
The sun is setting earlier, which means you can catch that beautiful sunset light without keeping your toddler up well past his bedtime. This makes for a much easier portrait, as everyone is more inclined to laugh and play when you don’t have an overtired little one on your hands.
These three kids were such a delight. I’m still playing catch up on this blog- this session was from about this time last year. Big sister did such an amazing job keeping her brothers happy, middle brother was a hilarious silly guy, and the baby was Mr. GQ the entire time.
If you attend classes at My Gym in Bel Air, you’ve seen these photos on the walls there. I wanted to give you a taste of how the rest of the session went before the frames are updated with this year’s family models.
This session took place in Forest Hill, in Harford County MD. These three kept me on my toes and I wouldn’t have it any other way. We ran, we jumped, we laughed. There was a lot of tickling and hugging and cuddling, as well. The love was strong and easy to see that afternoon!
At one point, big sister grabbed middle brother’s hands and they raced through the field. To me, that is the perfect image of childhood nostalgia. Running around in the grass, without a care in the world. How can we adults get back to that simple and perfect joy? Portrait sessions with sweet kids like this remind me that I have a lot to learn. I fill my days with worries and lists, and this right here is what it’s really all about. Embracing the joy of play. Not worrying about anything beyond the here and now.
I still have a handful of fall portrait spots remaining. Contact me today to get yours on the schedule!
