The summer sunset silhouette event is my favorite event of the year. It’s low stress. Moms don’t have to worry about clean faces, or convincing kids to wear itchy new clothes. The sessions are quick so you can go about your day (or get the kids in bed!) Sessions take place in a quiet neighborhood in Forest Hill, MD, so you also don’t have to worry about finding a place to park and looking for the right spot in a field or public park. There’s no mud to worry about, as most of the sessions are on the pavement.
The sky is always a surprise. You never know what you will end up with! And even if it’s dull and grey, don’t worry- I have quite a few tricks up my sleeve to pull out those colors of twilight in the sky.
This year’s event is wrapped up and done and I’ already missing it. Finishing the last summer silhouette means the start of school schedules, packing lunches, alarm clocks, and countless activities and events. The lazy days of lounging in pajamas are coming to a close.
But- for the lucky families that got into this year’s silhouette event- they have a unique keepsake to memorialize these carefree lazy days of summer. A portrait that celebrates the joy of summer, one that still shows personality and expression through body language, but one that doesn’t require worrying about squinting eyes or fake smiles. (Though to be honest, the kids are usually hooting with laughter the entire time as I encourage them to make crazy faces through the whole portrait session)
