Today I’d like to tell you all about this handsome little guy and the gigantic love he has for his family.
I met with this family last fall in Bel Air, MD, when the leaves were beginning to change into beautiful goldens and reds. This busy little man was entranced with throwing leaves, exploring the park, and always, ALWAYS, coming back to his Mama for hugs and love.
You see, he is a brand new Big Brother. And with the fancy new title comes a lot of changes. Transition is hard for a toddler. His entire life was flipped upside down with the addition of a baby sister- and while it’s normal for Moms to worry about this change, I’m here to reassure you that change is GOOD.
We know, as adults, that leaving your comfort zone is where the magic happens. It’s where all the good stuff like character growth, success, and opportunities lie. But have we considered that the same thing goes for our kids? Don’t be afraid of change- you get to witness some pretty amazing growth and development from your kids. It’s all worth it.
This blossoming life-long friendship is in it’s very early stages. These two may very well grow up to take on the world together. And with a big brother who has such a beautiful heart, this baby girl will always be protected. And I bet she will learn a thing or two about looking out for herself from him, as well.
In the end, it always comes back to family. A place where the kids know they are safe. Protected. Loved. A place of laughter and comfort.
